Halfway There
Five states, one time zone, and approximately 524 miles later (but who's counting?) John and I made it to our overnight stop in western Pennsylvania. It was a good day of driving - no rain, lots of sun but not too much, and no bad traffic - and thankfully the day was uneventful. I'm sitting in our cute little cabin (or, in KOA-speak, I'd say I'm sitting in our kute little kabin, because everything at KOA that kould start with a "k" does) with the dogs while John showers. I had hoped to upload a photo to this post but my devices and John's computer don't like each other. So you'll just have to imagine the huge smile on Allie's face tonight after we let the dogs out of the car. After days of being cooped up, and after a long day in the car, she was adorably happy to have her freedom back. Tomorrow we'll drive to Connecticut. Brad says it's raining like crazy in Woodbury, so I expect we'll have some rain on our drive tomorrow. We plan to get a very early start as the movers told us before they left Shorewood that they might arrive in Woodbury tomorrow afternoon to get a head start on the unpacking, which wasn't supposed to start until Saturday. And speaking of the movers, yes, the move-out is finished and it went well. The movers stayed until almost 10:00 p.m. last night to get everything loaded, so it was a long day. During our three days of unpacking, I had lots of visitors and it made the moving days so much more enjoyable. Thanks to everyone for stopping by and for your good wishes and hugs, as well as gifts of food, drink, and reading material! And a special thanks to Elizabeth, who offered me a bed to sleep in at her house last night, and when I declined because I felt I needed to stay home with the nervous dogs as John was out late with friends, she would not be deterred and brought the bed to me! So I had a very comfortable and cozy last night's sleep in our house - a huge improvement on the night of sleep in a sleeping bag on the hardwood floor that I had originally planned!
