The year 2001 was Mary's first year to play baseball. Can you tell that she was excited to play? Because . . . she was! She played both years in Warsaw, then "retired" when we moved to Japan as there was no team for girls there. With a short career but happy career, she was one of those players about whom people will say "if only her playing days weren't cut short . . . think of what she could have done."
