Mid-Summer Saturday

We had dinner outside tonight - I bought a new cookbook today and it inspired most of our dinner, almost all of which was made from fresh produce. The weather was great, and it was a perfect night to eat outside.Brad is relaxing after a hard day's work cutting down huge tree branches in the backyard. When you have to dress in long sleeves, long pants, and long socks in hot and humid weather (to avoid ticks), it makes the work that much harder. He's been making great progress to open up our view to the back wetlands in our yard.
Mary finished her driver's school today - she had to take two Saturdays of driver's training in order to be able to apply for a license - a Connecticut requirement for 16 and 17-year olds who come from out-of-state. She'll apply for her license (and since she's young, she'll have to retake both the road and written tests) after she returns from Minnesota.
Kia likes getting to spend more time outside and having a backyard to explore.
Allie also likes getting to be outside more, and she and Kia both spent the afternoon outside keeping Brad company while he cleared branches. One of Allie's favorite things about the yard is getting to eat raspberries straight from the bramble.
