Okay, the title of this post kind of gives it all away. Yes, Woodbury actually has a village blacksmith. And that's a good thing, because believe it or not, today needed a blacksmith. We have an iron lamp, and in this move and the last move four years ago, its lamp housing snapped off the lamp base. Last time we ended up using superglue to fix it, which didn't last long (but it gave the blacksmith a chuckle). Brad and I had seen a sign on Main Street for the blacksmith, but I had no idea what I would find. What I found was . . . amazing. This man is a craftsman. His shop is the real deal, the setting is just as you would imagine, and he also has a "showroom" (up the backstairs of the really old barn/shed pictured above) which is like a blacksmith museum. (Here's the link to his website so you can see for yourself.) It was worth the trip just to meet him and see his work area and showroom. And the best news is that he has a plan for how to fix our lamp. (I don't think he'll use superglue either.)

ReplyDeleteYou are truly a blogger. Speaking of which, I saw a preview for a movie today that I think you would love. It is called Julie/Julia or something like that. It is about a woman who is inspired to turn her life around by starting a blog based on her inspiration by Julia Child.
