Civil War Reenactment

This weekend was the much-awaited Civil War Reeanctment, held right here in Woodbury. (Mary got home just in time!) So the big question for this morning: what to wear to a Civil War Renactment? Blue? Grey? Such a decision. In the end, we all opted to be neutral (Brad's shirt is black, not blue). The newspaper said there were over 600 participants, playing all sorts of roles: soldiers, civilians, journalists, medics, and even a 19th century politician we recognized. We walked through the Union camps, talked to a captain, observed the artillery, watched a "skirmish," and generally enjoyed this unique event. Afterwards, we left the world of the 1860's, got into our 21st century car, and drove to New Haven to pick up John at the train station.
Brad and I were happy to be at the reenactment, but we mostly happy to have Mary home.

The Union troops marching to fight the Confederates.
Mr. Lincoln was kind enough to take a break from watching the Union troops in their skirmish to pose for a picture with Mary.
The Reenactment was held in a large park, and bordering the park there are 3 rivers. (Thus, it's called Three Rivers Park.) This is the Weekeepeemee River. It is shallow and clear and so pretty.
