Deer Dogs

The dear dogs saw their first deer this morning, and it was quite an event. I was getting ready to take them on their morning walk, when Brad noticed a deer in the backyard just over the fence. I grabbed my camera and quietly opened the sliding glass door, walked onto the deck, and snapped a few photos. I didn't realize it at the time, but the dogs followed me and while I was taking pictures of the deer, the dogs were just below me, cocking their heads, trying to figure out what in the heck was out there. The deer looked back at the dogs and this is how the deer looked:
It only took the dogs a few seconds to figure things out, and when they did, they RAN down the stairs at full speed and out to the yard, barking their heads off. It was a 5-alarm response if ever there was one. Of course, the deer didn't stick around. But I have a feeling he'll be back.

I decided to take some photos on our walk today, since Mary left behind her little camera. That red building is the Split Rail, a greasy spoon breakfast restaurant, and Allie's favorite spot on our walk. Every morning she wants to go up to the door. The smells are apparently very inviting!
The dogs like to sniff around the stone fence by the cemetery. And as you can see, Allie enjoys the view too.
Sanctuary! Here they are in the car, ready for the short ride home.
