Flashback Friday

It's September of 1996, and Brad and the kids are with his brother Barry and daughter Kelsey. This was the Labor Day weekend when Barry, Wendy, and Kelsey visited us in Racine. This picture made me laugh when I looked at it closely. I don't think I'm overanalyzing when I point out . . . . it shows oldest child and control freak Peter, trying to get his infant cousin to look at the camera. Then we have youngest child Mary, clearly not happy and about to erupt, to the point that I can hear the whining through the picture. And off in the wings there's serene middle child John, who is waiting for the dust to settle so he can wow the adults with his endearing charm. Thirteen years later . . . . Peter is no longer a control freak as he mastered the art of being laid back years ago. Mary is a tough cookie and now the line we used to tease her about, "I am not a whiner!" is very true. John, on the other hand, found a winning formula to stick with and he is still as charming as ever.

  1. Somehow I feel like I got the best end of that caption. Sorry Peter and Mary.

  2. At least my God Child is no longer a whiner! Good analysis of that picture.
