This Moose Is No Longer Loose

First, let me say that the moose in the picture is not dead, he's just tranquilized. In another uniquely New England happening . . . last week it was reported in the newspaper, on the radio, and on TV that a moose had been seen a couple of towns over, and ever since then the authorities have been trying to track it down. You can imagine my relief when I opened this morning's paper and the headline informed me that the moose had been captured. It's a story worth reading, as apparently the moose gave chase. (And I love the police officer's quote, "Bullwinkle has been apprehended.") The place where they found him was about seven miles from where we live. The moose has now been tagged and will be released back to where it came from, which is in the northern part of the state. In the meantime, when I hear our dogs barking at something during the night, I will sleep better knowing it's probably only a deer or one of the farmer's cows, and not . . . a moose!
