What's The Smallest State!
I'm sorry to make the title of this post an inside family joke . . . . but these are the things I do for my children and husband. (You're welcome.) So, as we all know, the smallest state is Rhode Island, and that is where Mary and I went today. She had the day off school and we visited Brown University in Providence. Providence is about 120 miles east and a little bit north of us. A benefit to going there was that we got to drive through parts of eastern Connecticut that we'd never been to before. Once we got to campus, we went on the usual tour and information session. We also had lunch with Lex, a family friend from Shorewood, who is a freshman at Brown. All of those events combined to make for a very informative day for Mary.
The Brown campus is very pretty with a nice collection of architectural styles. There are some interesting buildings (such as the one behind Mary) -- also lots of red brick buildings and a smattering of colonial-style buildings. Looks-wise, it's one of my favorite campuses. And a bonus today was that there were already magnolias and forsythias in bloom. Brown sits atop a hill overlooking downtown Providence on one side, and on the other side is a nice college-town.
