| The last gasp of the peonies, which are on their way out. They were gorgeous. |

| The lettuce is coming along and we should be having salad soon. Next year we'll have to get it planted sooner. |

| Last summer this rose plant was filled with powdery mildew and we had no flowers. It's still not quite out of the woods yet, but there are at least a dozen buds, and already many flowers. It's our only rose bush. However, we also have wild roses. I am constantly pulling them out with the other weeds. Until . . . . I let a big one alone this year, and this spring it produced beautiful white flowers. So I think I will be a bit more tolerant of them from now on and keep a few select ones around. |

| We have these cheerful yellow flowers all over the yard. I had never seen them before so I had to look them up. They're called sundrops. |

| I'm not sure exactly what this is. I'm guessing it's a cousin of rudbeckia. Anyway, we now have two of these that have bloomed. And our coneflowers and rudbeckia are already starting to bud, so they're not far off. |
