After I posted that picture of John the other day in his new glasses, I started looking for pictures of Peter and Mary when they first got glasses. Here is Peter, at our house in Racine in September of 2000, in his brand new specs. As for Mary, I took an adorable picture of her outside of a Lenscrafters (yes, I'm a repeat offender) when she first got glasses in the summer of 2002. But believe it or not, all my pictures from our trip to the States that summer long ago vanished. Of all the thousands of photos I've taken with a digital camera, I think those are the only casualties. For years I've continued to look everywhere and still can't find them on a computer or on a backup CD. Such a bummer. So you'll just have to imagine a very happy little nine-year-old girl with black plastic glasses.
