Red All Over

If you're friends with me on Facebook, you know from my relentless posting that Brad and I have been going to the World Series here in St. Louis. Please forgive me my zeal! But as you shall shortly see, this weekend it wasn't only me and Brad who donned red ….. it was an all-around red Harrison weekend!

The view from within Busch Stadium is always so pretty. On a crisp late October afternoon with a bright blue sky and the Blimp flying above, it's even better.

Here are two very excited fans before Game 3, aka the Obstruction Game.

Like I said, we weren't the only ones wearing red this weekend. On Saturday, Peter and Kayla went to the University of Maryland homecoming game (Kayla's an alum) to see the unranked Maryland Terrapins not quite pull it out against #9 Clemson. When I received this picture I predictably teased Peter that I assumed he was wearing red for the Cardinals. Diehard Brewers fan that he is, he then predictably disowned me.

Mary wore red this weekend too. She dressed as a Cardinals "playa" on Saturday night for a Halloween party - and although she claims "it's just a costume" and she's "not a fan in real life" - I think it is quite a coincidence that someone who's "not a fan" wears the Cards' Saturday jersey on ….. Saturday! I think someone might be in denial.

Sunday night found us back at the ballpark, again wearing ….. you guessed it ….. red! Although I'm sad to report that my lucky red Cardinals' shirt (it was undefeated in the post-season) wasn't so lucky this time, it was great to have John along and we still had a blast.

Both nights we arrived a couple of hours early to watch batting practice and see all the hoopla that takes place on the field before the game. During the World Series, that's quite a lot of hoopla!

Throughout the season, we've appreciated how good the seats are throughout Busch Stadium. (And we've sat all around and in a lot of cheap seats.) However, last night's were definitely in a class all their own.

Also last night there was a Stand Up To Cancer event. I think you know who I stood up for, but I'll show you anyway.

  1. So you never mentioned if John is truly a Cardinal fan now or just roots for them since they are the hometown team? I LOVE your Stand Up to Cancer sign! What a great experience to be able to go to a World Series game!!

  2. John - would never sell out just to cheer for a team because they're the home team! Although he's understated, I think he's definitely a fan.
