More Fun Times in DC

Brad and I had such a nice visit with Peter and Kayla in Washington, D.C. But our stay was cut short by either Mother Nature or Old Man Winter. (Who was it? We'll never know unless the guilty party mans up and accepts responsibility.) Before we knew our trip would be abbreviated, it was great to visit Peter's school (above) and to meet so many teachers, administrators, and students. Not surprising to us, they're all huge fans of our boy.

This was a favorite from Peter's Special Ed resource room. Who recognizes a well known Harrisonism on the list?

Upon our arrival Peter was awarded The Crystal Ball trophy, with his name engraved as this year's winner. It's his third win overall. Congrats to Peter!

We got to meet Crindy (the dog formerly known as Ladybird). Peter and Kayla are her foster dog parents. She's a great dog and it was easy to fall in love with her.

Brad and I visited the National Portrait Gallery and toured an exhibit on Byzantine Art. This was my view from a couch while Brad walked around a permanent gallery and I ..... did nothing.

Our niece Emily (my sister Kelle's daughter) lives in DC. We had lunch on Thursday, and last night the four of us visited the bar in Adams Morgan where she works and we all had a nice visit.

Emily showed us the super fancy way she mixes some of the drinks they serve. It makes our usual draft of beer look pretty pedestrian.

Thanks to Emily for taking a picture of our group. It was a night to celebrate, as Kayla had just been offered a full-time position at a fantastic independent bookstore in DuPont Circle - we were celebrating! But by the next morning ..... we were sad that either Mother Nature or Old Man Winter was calling us home. Ice and snow are coming to St. Louis. The same storm is bringing lots of snow to DC. We hated to leave early ..... but we loved our time with everyone in Washington. We're already looking forward to our next visit!
