The door was pretty chewed up when Brad got it. This is how it looked in the beginning, after he took off the hardware but before he'd done much to it.
As you can see, the poor door needed a lot of love and care. And that's exactly what Brad gave it.
The first thing he did was to saw off one of the panels. Then he stripped it. Side-by-side you can really see what the stripping did.
Next he filled the holes, cracks, and crevices. Then he used an electric sander and sanded the heck out of the door. It was a huge job, so thanks to whomever it was that invented the electric sander!
During the sanding process Brad added the legs and the decorative rail at the top.
Meanwhile he kept on sanding ….. until it looked like this.
When it was time to paint, it was suddenly transformed into the headboard he foresaw at the beginning. And once it was upstairs in the room it looked even better!
