Two Topics That Are Completely Unrelated

This should be two separate posts but it's not so here goes. The other morning I was out walking and I saw this house. I had never seen it before. My first thought was that it looked like a German house.
As I got closer my opinion changed. (Can you see in the photo that on the left and right side there are wooden cutouts of little people?) This was not a German house, this was a very strange house that looks like a German house.
Then I got to the front and it all made sense. If you can't read the sign, it says "The Gingerbread House." Ok, now I get it!
And on a totally unrelated note ….. Webster Groves is getting ready for its annual Fourth of July parade. We're excited to see it tomorrow, and our closest viewing point is only a couple of blocks from our house! One afternoon this week I was home and could hear music coming closer and closer. It didn't take long to figure out it was a band and they marched right in front of our house. How fun to have the high school marching band give me my very own private (well, sort of private) concert!
Lots of the storefronts in town are getting decorated for the parade. This is one of the windows of our bookstore.
And lots of houses are getting decorated too. Allie and I like the bunting at this house. Tomorrow our house will get its simple decoration, just our flag. It's not much but I still think it's beautiful.
