Peter's Visit, Part Deux

Peter flew back to Washington today. We had a wonderful visit with him. On Wednesday we went to the Missouri Botanical Garden for a picnic and a concert while Brad was briefly out of town. We were there for less than an hour - the concert hadn't even started - when we were all told to take cover due to an incoming thunderstorm. Peter and I took that as a cue to head home. So we had a short picnic and no concert. But it was still fun!
Peter did not go home hungry! Here he is at Rooster, a favorite downtown St. Louis breakfast spot.
We visited the City Museum, which is part museum, part jungle gym, part funhouse. It's made up almost completely of repurposed architectural parts - stairs, railings, decorations, exhibits - everything came from somewhere else. And it's very unusual. For example, there's a school bus hanging off the edge of the roof (and you can go in it - which we did) and a Ferris wheel on the roof. And much much more. Here's Peter climbing to get to another level inside a domed portion of the building. As soon as I took some pictures of him I followed his same route.
On the eleventh story roof there's a Ferris wheel.
We rode the Ferris wheel, which spins around rather fast. It was fun and gave us a great view of St. Louis!
On Friday night the five of us went to The Muny (our outdoor municipal theatre in Forest Park) to see Grease. The bad news is it wasn't a very good production; the good news is we still had a great time.
These guys haven't been golfing together in many years. On Saturday they made up for some lost time and played nine holes in Forest Park.
Later on Saturday we went sat outside at John and Troy's house to try some of their beer.  After we all had dinner, Peter stayed the night in Soulard and he and John and Troy went out to listen to some late night Blues.
Brunch for five at the Scottish Arms on Sunday morning was awesome. It was the first time there for any of us and we will definitely be back! Then it was straight to the airport and to say goodbye to Peter, who goes back to school tomorrow (just teachers - it's a week or two before the kids arrive) and who starts classes for his Master's program later in the month. It was a fun fun week and we can't wait to see him again here in St. Louis for Thanksgiving!
