Belated KC

Last weekend's trip to Kansas City was a lot of fun. Allie doesn't get to travel very much, but even our home-body of a dog had a great time.
I mean, when you visit a house that uses antlers in all of its decorating AND where visiting dogs get to chew on those antlers, it's hard not to think you're visiting the happiest place on Earth.
The humans had fun too. The weather was nice and we enjoyed lots of time on Steve and Amy's deck.
Lest you think we spent all our time on the deck, we also visited the Kansas City farmers' market (sadly no photos of it). I don't think I've ever been to a nicer market - it's really worth a visit. The produce was spectacular, and it also has small specialty grocery stores, non-food vendors, flowers, restaurants, etc.
Steve and Amy took us to a unique store called Red X that sells pretty run-of-the-mill food, beverages, and home goods, but which has some of the most unusual decorations you'll ever see in a store. It's like a private museum within a store. John and Troy, this elephant photo is for you.
We went for a nice walk on a trail that's just a short drive from Steve and Amy's house. Steve got a chigger but the rest of us were left alone.
The trail is really pretty and the weather was very nice.
We ate some barbecue while we were there and we also went to a beer-themed restaurant (above) in a lively part of town called Westport. The food was fantastic and the beer was great too. So as you can see, we saw lots in Kansas City, but the best part of all was the company - we had a nice time catching up with Steve and Amy - and it's still strange to realize we didn't have to cross a state line to do so!

  1. I wish we were a bit closer to both you guys and Steve & Amy. Looks like a fun time.
