Last weekend we were in Elkader for Uncle Kelly's 90th birthday party. But a few hundred miles to the east, Peter was celebrating his 27th. Peter's friend Thomas (in the sunglasses) got some tickets to a DC United (soccer) game, so the two of them went, along with Mary, Jessa, Ana, and Thomas' girlfriend. From all reports, they had a great time and Peter had a great birthday.
Meanwhile the rest of us were, as I said, in Elkader. On Saturday morning a few of us congregated at their little Farmer's Market.
Brad and my cousin Tracy's husband, John, enjoyed an Elkader delicacy: the 2 Mitt burger. (That's 2 Mitt's burger stand behind them.) It's been around, in some form or another, since my mom lived there.
And speaking of when Mom lived there, of course we stopped by the entrance to the apartment where she grew up for the traditional photo op!
Pre-party pix at the campgrounds outside the "cabin" we stayed in. I say "cabin" because it was more of a little house.
The birthday boy was his usual jovial self at his party!
Kelle, who was in town the night before with Bob, had to leave before the party. But not before she gave Uncle Kelly a very fun hat that she made for his party.
At the party. I didn't take that many pictures over the weekend, but what I have I'm putting on Facebook as soon as I finish this post. For this one I have Kathy to thank.
On our way out of town, we took pictures in front of the Elkader sign. For this big group picture, we forgot to get the sign in the picture. Oh well, I think it was victory enough to do a selfie of six people!
On Monday afternoon, Mom and I had lunch at Susan Crabtree's house.
John and Sirius came over for dinner on Monday. We missed Troy, but she had to work.
Mom got to know Sirius quite well, as we were dog sitting him when she arrived, and then he made a couple of more visits while she was here.
And she got to see a lot of Allie too. As you can see, there was a bit of a rivalry for her attention!
