We saw a few interesting sights on the way to and from Stanford. Driving up there through LA we found a buddha on the loose.
We took a detour to Paso Robles for some wine tasting and an overnight stay. But before we got there, we stopped in Buellton to check out Firestone Walker's Taproom and Barrel Works. We had lunch and tried some yummy beer.By the time we got to Paso Robles we had time for just one winery. The winery was okay, but the fruit trees in the parking lot were better. The pomegranate tree was loaded with fruit.
I've never seen a persimmon tree before, so now I can cross that one off my bucket list.
The olive tree was gorgeous.
The apple tree didn't have a lot of fruit but still made for a pretty picture.
We drove to the top of the hill and discovered this view of some vineyards.
On the way home we stopped in Gilroy for some produce. We didn't try the garlic ice-cream. Next time . . . . .
We came home on I-5 which meant going over the Grapevine. This is the start. This is Pyramid Lake in the middle.
And this is an Aussie in the car next to us during a traffic slowdown.
