Morocco: The Locals

I can't talk about our trip to Morocco in just one post, so prepare yourself for an onslaught. (Or, as I prefer to think of it, a tapas of blog posts.) In deciding where to begin, I can't think of a better place than the reason for our trip: to visit Peter and Jessa. We had such a nice time with them, both in getting to see their life in Casablanca, and also traveling with them. So to start things off, I thought I'd write a little bit about their life in Casablanca.
No post about Peter and Jessa's life in Casablanca would be complete without a mention of their cat, Peaches, who relocated with them from DC to Casablanca a little over a year ago. Peaches seems to have transitioned quite well, indoor cat that she is.
She greeted us every day at the door when we came home and is much more of a people cat than many.
Peter made her this cat house, which she has apparently ignored for months but she finally went in it while we were there. Who knew we could be a positive influence on cats?
I hadn't planned this blog post until after we got home, and as a result I don't have a lot of photos of their apartment, but I'll describe it as best as I can. First, it's far removed from the city (where they used to live before moving this summer). It's hard to deny that it's suburban, as the development has a golf course as well as a clubhouse/restaurant. (Peter's a proud member of the golf club.) There seem to be dozens of low-rise apartment buildings. The grounds are pretty and there are quite a few swimming pools. It's pretty remote, so this summer Peter and Jessa bought a car, which they take to work and also on travels. (But not so remote that they can't walk to a small grocery store and a few restaurants, as well as a gym.) Their apartment has three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a kitchen complete with dishwasher. It's brand new and they're the first occupants. If my description isn't satisfying enough, here's a link to the development with a few photos.
Here are the happy campers. We brought Christmas gifts with us, so this is Jessa and Peter at our November Casablanca Christmas! Stay tuned for tomorrow's post: School Day.

  1. Peaches is so cute! Would she like a companion because I could send Ollie over!
