Brad's mom and dad are here for a visit, and last weekend Barry and Wendy were here too. So we took a picture after dinner. It wasn't history-making, but not everything is.
The reason for Barry and Wendy being in Long Beach is that their son's rowing team was at a competition here. We all spent a little time over at Marine Stadium in Long Beach to hang out with them.
(To be outside and take pictures, that is!)
All right, the theme of this post is making history, and there was a hugely historic day on Sunday: John ran in (and completed) his first marathon. We couldn't be more proud of him and happy for him. He not only completed it, but didn't get hurt or suffer any more than a person normally suffers when running 26.2 miles. Here he is, somewhere mid-race.
And here he is at the finish. The weather was a bit chilly, as you can tell. I believe the temperature finally got up to 44 by the time he was done. Lucky for John he's the warm-blooded one in the family.
After his marathon I'm sure John was ready for a nap, but Peter (and Peaches) likely beat him to it. Jessa and Peter are on spring break this week, and they're hanging out around home. (And apparently catching up on lost sleep.)
Finally, I'll close with one more history maker. As I was writing this post, Troy sent me a link to an article in Feast Magazine about her new venture of starting a Pink Boots Society chapter in St. Louis. Pink Boots is a national organization that promotes and supports women in the beer industry. I can't think of a better person in St. Louis to help spearhead this than than her. Way to go Troy!
