Your Mid-February Report

On Saturday morning Brad, Kelle, and I held a garage sale at my mom's house in Temecula. Allie came along too. She was in charge of security. Here she is guarding the inside of the house.
And here she is guarding the outside of the house and the sale. There were no shenanigans at this sale, thanks to our head of security.
Sustenance is important for an endeavor such as a garage sale. Kelle got up at 4:00 a.m. to drive over and bring me coffee and donuts from her favorite donut shop at home.
Mary has the week off school for February break, and she spent a few days in Chicago visiting two good friends from Stanford. Costner, in the middle, goes to med school at Northwestern. Veronica, on the right, goes to law school at the University of Chicago. Mary flew back to DC today and she gets to pack for a couple of days before she and Andy move this weekend to their new apartment.
Meanwhile over in Morocco, Peter and Jessa also had a few days off school. They hosted Jessa's mom on a trip to the desert. Here we have the view from the camel.
I think this photo needs no explanation.
And this is where they overnighted in the desert.
Meanwhile in Long Beach, we hosted our good friends Sue and Harry for a couple of days. They live in Iowa and stopped in to see us on their way home from Hawaii.
It was great to see them. Brad took the day off work and we took them on a tour of Brad's company's factory. (Probably not the most inspired idea of what to do on a day off work, right?)
We also walked to the top of Signal Hill for outstanding views. Signal Hill is a random hill smack dab in the middle of Long Beach which gives a 360 degree view of the surrounding area. It's spectacular. (Behind us is the ocean near where we live.)
It's hard to beat this view, and it's only about ten minutes from our house. (Behind us is downtown Los Angeles.) Sue and Harry flew home yesterday after a short but very sweet visit.
