A Car and a Parade

Last Friday my mom got a new car, so I drove down to San Juan Capistrano and we picked it up at the dealership together. Her old car is a 2005, so you can imagine how excited she is to be driving around town in her shiny new red car.
Brad and I drove down again on Saturday so he could see the car, and so we could both see our nephew, Brian, who was in town for work. We all had a fun afternoon together.
Sunday was the Pride Parade in Long Beach, and our downstairs neighbors hosted a big brunch for an organization they're involved with called PFLAG. Brad and I joined them for a drizzly but fun outdoor brunch for about 100 people. There was lots of good food. My favorite: the rainbow bagels.
I marched the parade route with PFLAG. The route is just shy of two miles, and it was lined with spectators the entire way. There were about 60 entries in the parade: local groups, Disneyland, politicians (including our Congressman), Boeing, the power company, the airport, and many more made for a colorful and vibrant event. It was a great parade!
And I had a bit of fun, as you can see from this picture.
Allie got in the spirit too. Over the last couple of weeks some of the sidewalks in our neighborhood were repainted in a new rainbow configuration. (I love it!) She has a lot of neighborhood pride, so on Monday morning she and I took a bunch of pictures for her Instagram and we've been posting a new one every day. Check them out @allieg_miniaussie.
