First Days

For each year since 1992, when Peter started JK3 at Prairie School, the Harrison kids have had a continuous streak of first days of school with at least one of them as a student, as a teacher, or both. The streak continues: today is once more the first day of school for two Harrisons. (It also marks the first year since 1992 that Peter is neither student nor teacher, but seeing as how his new job is to give away books to kids, I'll give him a pass.) For Mary, it's her fifth year of teaching. And this year, for the first time in her teaching career, she's teaching the same grade (second grade), and the same subject (reading), at the same DC public school (Truesdell Educational Campus)—though she does have a new classroom this year, which you can see above. (Also if you zoom in you can see her Stanford banners on display.)
Today is also the first day of school for John and he's a student: it's his first day of class at the University of Colorado law school. (Lest you think that this blog runs more seamlessly than it actually does, this photo is from last week when John was off to his first day of orientation.) Going to law school has been a dream of John's that was a long time in the making. He's super excited to get started with law school, and Brad and I couldn't be happier for him.
