College Visits, The Second of Many Installments

Imagine this scene if you will . . . . it's a dark winter morning just before dawn. Brad and I are fast asleep in our bed. At precisely 5:32 a.m., the phone on my nightstand rings. I groggily roll over and answer it, knowing even in my still-deep slumber who is calling. After I listen to the recorded message and then hang up the phone, Brad, also groggy and also aware of who was calling, managed his first word of the day: "So . . . ?" I lay there, head impressed on my warm pillow, still too tired to talk. After a few seconds, I managed to sleepily mumble: "Snow. Day." We both lay there, trying to deny that the day was upon us. Eventually Brad slowly offered: "Snow day. What'll you do today?" I lay there. Quiet seconds passed. The clock ticked. The dog snored. Snow blew outside in the early morning wind. Too early to talk. Sleep, yes, more sleep. And then!!! Bursting with unimaginable energy, we each bolted upright in bed! A flash of sudden inspiration brightened each of our faces at exactly the same time! We turned and faced each other in unanticipated perfect syncopation! With a wide smile on each of our faces and our eyes as bright as the shining sun, we both yelled out at the exactly time: "COLLEGE VISIT!!!"
Okay, that's not exactly how it happened, and I have apparently seen too many Will Farrell movies for my own good. But it is true that after we found out there was another snow day today (the second this week), we had the idea to do a college visit. (We have finally caught on to these Connecticut snow days: they're much ado about not very much snow.) Yale was still on our list, and it's just under an hour from here. So we visited Yale today. And it was a terrific visit and a perfect way to spend a snow day.
Here is Mary on campus, after our tour. Although it was snowy, we got very little accumulation and it was an absolutely beautiful day to be on campus.
The information session was midday, so Brad headed up from work and joined us, as he had a meeting nearby. (He's not in the picture but he took the picture.)
