Flashback Friday

November 13, 2004. Mary and Caitlin Robinson, both age 12, are proud of the projects they made at a washi paper store in Tokyo, Sakurahirikiri. The washi paper in Japan is so beautiful, and the contents of the stores that sell the paper are amazing to behold. Some of the stores offer on-the-spot assistance to figure out the Japanese directions and put these projects together right at the store, which is what the girls did. (Never mind that the ladies who helped them out didn't speak English!) I never took enough pictures inside a washi paper store, but in writing this post, I found a blog of an American family who visited Japan and were apparently as awed as I was by washi paper - they have some great pictures of a washi store they visited! It almost inspires me to go to the basement and work on some of my yet-to-be completed washi projects!!
