Merry Christmas!
We've opened presents, had brunch, and now everyone is either napping or having fun with their presents. This is the lull time between Christmas morning and Christmas dinner. So I thought it was a good time to post a few pictures from our Christmas so far. Merry Christmas everyone!
After dinner on Christmas Eve, we decorated the tree and then went to 11:00 p.m. Mass. This is the kids just before we left for Mass.
The kids went all out this year in putting a lot of thought into their Christmas shopping. Peter got us books or DVDs. Mary's focus was humor-related gifts. John got us all Tufts presents. This is Brad with his.
I made each of the kids a knitted gift this year, with the help of my design-consultant-in-chief, aka Brad. This is John with his Tufts-themed blanket, where Brad was assisted in some of the design choices by his trusty assistant, Mary. I also made each of us a pair of pajamas pants.......
........however, as much as Peter liked the pajamas pants I made, I am certain they were vastly surpassed by this new pair of footie pajamas, which he loves. (Can you tell?!)
Every year, Mary is our fearless leader in decorating the tree on Christmas Eve. By the time dinner is over, the dishes are done, and the thought of having to stay up late for Mass looms, Brad and I are always happy to have the kids take the lead with the ornaments. Mary is the champ in this regard. This year she outdid herself by getting out some old family videos of Christmases past that we watched just before we did the tree decorating. She found highlights from each year that each of the kids was two years old. It was so cute and we all laughed so much. It was also enlightening to me and Brad, as we had never noticed some things as we were raising the kids. For example .......... who knew that Peter was the "me-me-me-and-yes-let's-pay-more-attention-to-me" child? Who knew that the kids had an orgy of gifts every Christmas? (What did they do with all those toys?) Who knew how hard John had to try to pry his adorable self away from Peter's large and always looming shadow? Who knew how incredibly sweet and adorable Mary was? (Okay, we knew that, but look, I used my self-restraint and left out any mention of sudden stops in the tape when someone started whining....oops, guess not.) Who knew how much effort it must have been for me and Brad to make every single thing we said to the kids positive and singsongy? (What were we on anyway?) But seriously, we loved watching and it had literally been years since we'd seen those tapes, and it was wonderful of Mary to pull them out and play them for us. Now she and the boys can make more Christmas (and other) memories, as Santa brought them each a camera this year.

I'm sorry we haven't had the opportunity to chat between Christmas and New Years. I love the pictures and Peter's pajama's look wonderful! We have hardly had any snow but your looks great just where it is, in Wisconsin!
ReplyDeleteLove to all and thanks for the movie reviews, they are all movies we had hoped to see over the break too but we only saw Seven Pounds.
