The Girl Gets Around
It's been a big week for Mary. First, on Thursday and Friday she got not one, but two days off school due to cold. When added to the MLK holiday, that means a five-day weekend! On Saturday she left way before the crack of dawn to go to Green Bay with the Mock Trial team for a mock Mock Trial. This practice was to help them get ready for the Mock Trial regionals, which are on February 7 in Milwaukee. After that huge day, she again got up way before the crack of dawn on Sunday and we all went down to Racine for her first club volleyball tournament. For a first outing, they had a really good day. They won their pool! Then in the playoffs they lost their first match, but at least it went to three games. Her team looks really good! Mary is playing libero this year. Last night she went with some friends to see the movie Bride Wars. (She gave it one and a half thumbs down.) Then today was another day off school, and she studied for final exams, which begin on Tuesday. We had a day of beautiful sunshine but temps didn't get past 20+ degrees. As for me, I had two unusual thing happen to me today. First, our back door wouldn't shut. When it's 20 or so degrees outside, this is a problem. Luckily I was able to get someone out and it was the weather stripping that needed to be re-nailed on, so now it's all fixed. Then, just after the door incident, I had my van at the car wash, and the line to get in was extremely long (it seems that everybody's car is quite dirty these days due to the road conditions). Finally I got to the front and was watching my car as it maneuvered itself through the car wash. (It's the type of car wash where the driver gets out.) It got to the drying cycle and poof! all of the electricity in the entire car wash went off. And they couldn't get it back on. So the car wash guys had to manually lift the driers off my car and drove it to the end of the wash and finished drying it by hand. It turns out that it was more than just the car wash, because when I drove out the traffic lights were not working. I really felt sorry for the people behind me in the car wash line, for after waiting so long they not only didn't get a wash, but they had to back their cars up in a tight space onto a busy street to get out of the line. As for me, I'm so happy to have a clean car and a back door that shuts!
