Today both Shorewood Mock Trial teams competed at the Waukesha Regional Mock Trial Tournament. It was a loooong 12+ hour day! Each team tried its case four times, and each trial lasted about two hours. And the outcome . . . Shorewood's grey team came in third place . . . and Shorewood's red team (Mary is a witness for this team) came in FIRST PLACE! WooHoo!!!!! Each of the four rounds had three judges, so that means they had a total of 12 scores, and the red team was judged the winner by each of the 12 judges!!! In other words, undefeated!!!!! In the third round, the two Shorewood teams got to compete against each other, and it was very close, with the red squad just edging the grey squad in that round. Next up, the Shorewood red team will go to the State Mock Trial competition in mid-March in Madison. They will use the same case that they used for regionals, and as far as I know everyone will have the same roles. Mary's role is that of a defense witness. There are a total of three defense witnesses and three plaintiff's witnesses, plus three attorneys. The case is an environmental spill case (similar to the case in the movie Erin Brokovich).
