This picture was taken on May 5, 2003, on our first visit to Kamakura, which is a beautiful town on the coast of Japan. Kamakura has many shrines and temples, a beach, a lovely shopping area, good hiking, lots of trees, and it was less than an hour from our house in Yokohama. I think I chose this particular photo for this week's Flashback because one of the things I loved about Japan was springtime. It is beautiful and sunny and warm and the flowers are abundant and they never seem to stop blooming and they are everywhere. As you can see from the photo, we were in azalea season. Here in Wisconsin this spring, we have had a lot of rain and clouds (especially lately), so I feel spring-deprived.
