Mary and Brad in New York

Last night, thanks to some work Brad's doing with a new music video website called Vevo.com, he got to take Mary to the Vevo.com launch event in New York. Which means that yes, those two people in the picture with Mary don't just look familiar, they really are John Mayer and Justin Timerlake -- who very kindly agreed to pose with Mary when she asked, even though one of their bodyguards tried to stop it by telling Brad it was a no-photo event (oops .....). In one of those situations where it's better to ask for forgiveness later . . . it all worked out -- John Mayer and Justin Timberlake were very gracious to Mary, and she got a photo for her Facebook and a story to tell. The event was to introduce the new Vevo.com website, so there were many people who gave short speeches -- the heads of all the record labels involved spoke, as well as the CEO of Google, Bono, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Ciara, and I forget the rest they mentioned. Mary also saw -- in addition to Justin Timberlake and John Mayer -- Sheryl Crow, Mary J. Blige, Taylor Swift, Adam Lambert (he performed), Lady Gaga (she performed too), the Queen of Jordan, Alison Iraheta (from last year's American Idol), Nick Cannon, Jay-Z, and Rihanna . . . there were more but I forget all of them. (I think part of the evening's entertainment for Brad and Mary was seeing how many people they could identify.) Apparently there were only about 500 people there, and Brad and Mary found a place right next to the stage to watch (it was held at a warehouse in SoHo), so they had a great spot to see the speakers and performers. It was a fun night, to say the least. Brad and Mary skipped the after-party so they were home by midnight, which isn't so late, but I was still worried about her being out so late on a school night, but . . . we got a call this morning at 5:30 to let us know that there would be no school as it was a snow day. So Mary lucked out in more ways than one!
