Yesterday was Brad's birthday. Mary and I spent the afternoon making him a cake, and we made paella, salad and strawberries for dinner.
Mary was behind the camera last night.
This is the cake before we took the flowers off. We made the floral arrangement on top using CakeVase, an ingenious device invented by our Shorewood friend Kathleen Meisinger. For total novices like us to pull this off, it's clearly a miracle product!

We took the flowers and the CakeVase off so we could cut the cake, and now they make a nice centerpiece in this bowl.
Brad looks nifty to be fifty! Cake is wonderful, you'll have to send me information on that flower thing. Your dinner sounded and looked good too!
