Rally

Now that' Mary's on the "inside" with the Woodbury Town Democrats, she got an invitation to go to a rally for our Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate. The big draw to the rally was that Bill Clinton was speaking. So, she and I got up bright and early on Sunday morning to drive to New Haven and get in line at a high school for the rally . . . . since the rally took place in the gym, all of the seats were decent and we even found seats on the top row next to the wall, which we appreciated as we were in there for almost three hours.
There were a few speakers and other candidates that we heard from before Clinton arrived  . . . .  late, as I predicted he would.  But for all of the waiting it was worth it.  He gave a really good speech that was mostly about current issues, and which lasted about 45 minutes.  Mary, quick to see when the speech was coming to a close, had us leave at just the right time.  We got out of the gym before just about anyone else, and we were on the road within minutes.
On the road we were, but we didn't go far.  Peter knows that Mary and I don't step foot in New Haven without at least considering whether we should eat at the Ivy Noodle.  Today it was the perfect time for a lunch there.  And Urban Outfitters is right across the street, so we did some shopping and Mary found an adorable dress for next month's homecoming dance.  I call that a successful day!
