Great Big Thanksgiving Post

Peter and John were home for Thanksgiving, while Mary spent her week in Phoenix with Brad's parents. We loved having the boys home. We missed Mary, but we knew she was having a wonderful time with her grandparents, uncle, aunt, and cousins.

With much to be thankful for, we sat down to dinner on Thanksgiving.

While we were having our Thanksgiving in Connecticut, Mary was having hers in Arizona. But before dinner, a game of Scrabble with Uncle Barry and cousins Kelsey and Kyle.

A big feature of Thanksgiving Day was the Packers game. Peter teased John by "borrowing" this jersey. (Peter's not a Packers fan.  Boo hiss.) So John and I worked together to get a picture of Peter wearing Packers garb. Here he is, about to clobber me with the hand mixer in retaliation. As you can see, he is terrifying and I am terrified.

On Thanksgiving night, we had a group Skype with Mary and everyone in Arizona. This is what it looked like from our end.

When the boys are home they always teach us something. As an example:  fashion.  Here you can see how Peter has taught Brad his style of cuffing his jeans.  Like son, like father.

John's fashion lesson:  "this is how to choose a sweater at a thrift shop."

It was a weekend of food. At dinner last night, we had steaks and leftover everything else.

All good things must come to an end. Mary left Arizona on Friday afternoon so she could get back to school in time for Saturday's last home football game of the year. I guess you can figure out what they had for lunch.

And last night, when Stanford was on national TV and Mary was at the game, I bet you can guess what we were doing.

We left home at 5:00 a.m. this morning to drive Peter to the airport in New York. With a bit of extra time on our hands before John needed to get to the train station in New Haven, and a with near-empty Manhattan not far from our route, after dropping off Peter we drove into the city for breakfast. It was so early that not much was open. John was resourceful and took us to a place he's been to before that opens early. I don't know how, after eating so much food all weekend, we could still be hungry. But of course we were. And so with yet another meal, we marked the end of the very happy, and very filling, 2011 Thanksgiving weekend!

  1. I don't believe I saw anything about exercising after all that food? No pictures of anyone on the new treadmill? Cuffed jeans...I'm pretty sure that isn't in style here! Looks like a great time was had by ALL!!!
