Happy Chinese New Year! This year it's the year of the dragon, but back in 2004 it was the year of the monkey. When we lived in Japan, our neighborhood was adjacent to the Yokohama Chinatown, which is the largest Chinatown in Asia. (Well, not counting China.) This meant we had lots of Chinese restaurants and shops practically in our backyard. It was large enough that one could get lost in Chinatown, which Peter routinely did as he could never get his sense of direction in there. (And we will never let him forget it.) In this photo in the foreground are Mary and her friend Caitlin, watching a Chinese New Year's parade in Chinatown on February 1, 2004.
