The Greenery in January

It's January 31 and it hardly feels like we've had winter. We've only had one real snowfall all season (I'm not counting October) and it's been mild for most of the year. Today it's in the 50s. Usually by this time of year I'm already counting down the days until spring, but this year things have been so easy that I'm in no hurry for winter to end. Infact, I'd like for it to begin! Whether I am always willing to admit it or not, I do enjoy the dark and the quiet of winter. Without the snow, it just isn't the same. If Mother Nature is so inclined, I'd be okay with some snow before it warms up and it's time to get back outside again in full force. In the meantime, I walked around the yard today and was amazed at how much evergreen-greenery we have, as I think I overlook it most winters. Here is a sampling of different plants from around our yard today.

  1. Yeah, it's been a very warm and mild winter. We in Denver are going to get a big storm beginning Thursday evening. Right now they are saying between 6-10 inches of snow plus blowing wind. They always get it wrong so we'll see what it ends up being. One thing is for sure, Watson is going to be happy!!

I have noticed that even my grass is green.
