A Fun Day With Peter

I am in Washington this weekend, visiting Peter. Today we went to the National Geographic Museum. The exhibit we saw was about the Anglo-Saxon Hoard. If, like us, you've never heard about it, it's the only hoard (of gold and silver) ever found in England. Discovered in 2009, it contains hundreds of pieces, mostly from military gear. The workmanship is exquisite. We found the exhibit and the history behind it to be fascinating.

This is Peter outside the museum. It's a small museum, housed on the first floor of the National Geographic Building.

I was impressed to find pansies in February. But then later in the day the temperature went down and the wind kicked up, making this by far the coldest day of my winter thusfar. We froze!

You can't tell but the wind and snow were just starting in this photo. After many hours of freezing weather, the smiles were starting to wear off our faces. But no amount of cold could put a damper on our experience tonight in seeing the movie Hugo. We absolutely loved it. If you haven't seen it, treat yourself. For each of us, it was one of our favorite movies of all time. And a great way to cap a great day.
