The next best thing after the horses was the crowd. To call it electric doesn't do it justice, but it's the best word I can think of.
We all got a cheering towel. When everyone in the stadium is waving the same towel, it's pretty cool.
The stadium was a sea of red. We did our best to add to the effect.
All season long Brad and I have been conflicted about cheering for the Cardinals. Tonight I think that pretty much went away. With no disrespect to the Brewers, there's nothing not to like about this team.
They play incredibly good baseball and it's so satisfying to watch them play.
This was an epic game - a 13-inning battle.
The Dodgers should have won - three times in extra innings they had runners in scoring position. But the Cardinals held them off.
There weren't any thrilling home runs, but we saw some amazing defensive plays, some great pitching, and some gut-it-out pitching.
But the Cardinals never gave up, they persevered, and in they end they prevailed. Almost five hours of baseball for the first game of the series. And a win. Not a bad start.
Sometimes it's the defensive games that are more fun to watch! Great pictures and I am sure it will be a game to remember for all of you!!
