Big Game Day

We've been at Stanford waiting for Big Game Day. It's been fun to spend time with Mary on campus. Brad's parents have been here too. The other day we all had coffee with Mary on campus.

Yesterday each section of the band dressed in costume for Big Game, which is the annual game against California for the rights to their trophy, the Axe. Mary's section - the tenor saxes - dressed as Darth Maul. So yes, even though she's not very recognizable, that person in the middle really is Mary.

Mary and another tenor sax player, Ben. A little face and body paint can really transform a person!

The band played before the game and we enjoyed listening. Brad and his mom, Geneva, followed the band on a march through campus.

Here you can get an idea of some of the different band costumes. The various sections dressed as Darth Maul, chefs, Ironman, dalmations, doctors, fox hunters, a Chinese dragon, and aerobics exercisers. It was a colorful, festive, and fun group!

Here's Mary playing at the post-game concert. Stanford won the game, and with Oregon's surprising loss, that means Stanford won the Pac-12 North. In two weeks they'll play in the Pac-12 title game against Arizona State ..... and if they win that one, it's onto the Rose Bowl!

Brad's brother Brian and his wife Candace came to to the game too. We sat near the band and when Mary came up to say hi during the game we snapped this picture.

It's been a great trip. We've gotten to see so many people and places as well as lots of Stanford football and of course we got to see our favorite Stanford student. Now it's time to go home. Brad, Mary, and I fly to St. Louis today and we'll start getting ready for ..... a Harrison family Thanksgiving with all the kids at home!
