Rose Bowl - the Prequel

After a long flight delay in St. Louis, the five of us finally met up in LAX. Kayla waited for us for many hours but she's now an LAX expert. Once we met up we snapped a quick picture (okay, three pictures) before taking Mary to her gate so she could catch her flight to San Francisco. After another flight delay, she landed in San Francisco at about 6:30 p.m., and at midnight she boarded a bus with the rest of the Stanford band (six buses actually) and drove back to Los Angeles, arriving just in time to wake up and have a full day of marching band rehearsal. (File that one under "oh to be young again.")

The rest of us (me, Brad, Peter, and Kayla) drove to Temecula for a quick two night visit with my parents.

On our second night there, we headed south to my Aunt Joyce and Uncle Kelly's house in Rancho Bernardo for a family dinner. My sister Kelle (above) and her daughter Sarah joined us.

Peter and his godfather, Uncle Kelly.

My dad and Brad and the rest of us had drinks and appetizers at the house before heading to a restaurant for dinner.

My mom and Sarah.

Me and Dad.

My sister Kathy joined us from Denver via FaceTime. Kelle put her on the table and she got spun around on the Lazy Susan.

On Monday morning it was time to say our goodbyes and head north to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl festivities. (Which I'll blog about tomorrow.) It was a great visit - too short but very sweet.
