The Never-Ending Story

Today I'd really like to stay in and paint. Really I would. Can you see these stairs - which are the route down from the back door to the garage. That shiny stuff is ice - and there's probably more coming as the forecast is for freezing rain. I hate to walk on ice. I think the ice melt we put down earlier today has worked a little bit but I'm not looking forward to leaving the house. (Of course Brad already has and it didn't faze him.) I would rather stay in and paint. I can't believe I just wrote that.

We got a lot of painting done this weekend. This is the guest/laundry room. Brad rolled it last weekend and I worked on the trim yesterday. Once the carpet gets installed it's going to look totally different from when we started and the walls were brown.

It wasn't the world's worst tone of brown, but the previous owners had hung shelves (far wall on left) and some heavy decorative hangings (left wall), so it had to be painted. And of course the plywood yellow floor needs to go. We can't wait for the carpet to be installed next month.

This is the master bedroom. Brad primed it last weekend and he painted the walls this weekend. Meanwhile, I worked on painting the shelves for the linen closet. We're going to carpet this floor too, so not having to worry about keeping the floor clean as we paint is a nice luxury.

The master bedroom is the same color as the guest/laundry room. Brad finished rolling it yesterday. Now I have to do the trim and we'll be all set in this room. We have next weekend to finish up painting, then we go to DC for a short visit with Peter. Then as soon as we return the rest of the work - such as carpet installation, interior master closet installation, delivery of washer and dryer, and a few finishing touches from our contractors - as well as the rest of the move - will keep us busy in March.

While we work, Allie keeps herself comfortable. All she needs is a little bit of softness to lay on and she's happy.
