Flashback Friday

Half a lifetime ago. That's how the math works out (Peter, I'm talking to you) when the picture is from your 13th birthday (September 19, 2001) and now it's your 26th birthday. Some things have changed in the past 13 years - for starters, Peter's wardrobe choices (Notre Dame t-shirts are definitely out, although if he still had it and if he cared to wear it, I'm pretty sure that t-shirt would still fit). For another, instead of being a middle school student in Warsaw, now he's an elementary school teacher in Washington. But one thing that hasn't changed in the past 26 years is that Peter has almost always had to be the first - the first born, the first big brother, the first to start school, the first to drive a car, the first to go to college, and in general throughout the years presenting me and Brad many firsts where we had to figure out how to be parents and Peter was our guinea pig. Thanks for your patience, Peter. We didn't always get it right, but we must have gotten enough of it right because you're a fantastic person. I'm very proud to be your mom - Happy Birthday!
