Tired But Happy

Yesterday we got out of the house and had lunch at one of the best barbecue places in St. Louis. (I'll let you figure out the name.) The line to get in was almost an hour, but it was well worth it - even for the vegetarinian in our group. (Their sides are super yummy too.)
We came home and did something we haven't done for years and years. Make that two things. The first thing we did was a 550-piece puzzle. (And by we I mean Peter, John, Mary, and Troy, who did pretty much all of it.) They were all addicted and it was lots of fun.
The other thing we did was decorate the tree. Ever since the kids were little we've decorated the tree on Christmas Eve, so that we (they) could focus on Advent. But we decided to do an experiment this year and decorate it early.
It's always fun to go through the ornaments and find old favorites. (Yes Peter, I do remember that you said you didn't care for this ornament. But it sounds so much better to say it's an old favorite. Which it is to your dad and me.)
At the end of the night, the tree decorating was complete and it was time for a picture. (John and Peter decided to go with a classic "prom pose.") It was our first time to use the self timer on my iPhone, and it was set to three seconds (don't ask) so we did our best in the very short time allotted. (For next time, we'll figure out how to increase the timer.)
And even though we had to get up at 4:30 in the morning to take Peter to his plane, John and Troy will be happy to learn that he and Mary stayed up to finish the puzzle. Now he's back home in D.C., Mary (after a short flight delay) is in the air and on her way back to school, and Brad and I are catching our breath and awaiting their returns: Peter returns three weeks from today and Mary returns in ten days!
