Wrapping Up The Holidays

Our annual movie marathon got started on Christmas night. After voting for which movies to see, the first choice was easy because The Imitation Game was unanimous. And I don't think anyone was disappointed; this movie about the life of Alan Turing was a group favorite.
The second day of the marathon took us to see the musical Into The Woods. In general everyone liked it, with our opinions ranging from "loved it" (Troy) to "it was okay" (names withheld to protect the innocent).
For our third movie we saw Birdman and the opinions started to get more varied and the discussions a bit more contentious. It was a pretty even split, ranging from "loved it" (names withheld to protect the innocent) to "strongly didn't like it" (Mary, and I paraphrased her words). Thankfully John and Troy steered us to a nearby Thai restaurant after the movie, so we could all agree on that! The next day we saw a fourth movie (no photo), but John and Troy didn't join us as they were home brewing. That last film was Foxcatcher, a true and somewhat depressing story that revolved around Olympic wrestling and excessive wealth. I was the only one who wasn't a fan; everyone else liked it quite a bit.
When we weren't going to movies, Mary did a lot of baking. Here she is making some cookies.
On Sunday the Packers played the Lions for the NFC-North championship. Because the Rams were on TV at the same time we didn't get the Packers game at home. So the six of us went over to iTap to watch and, as you probably know, the Packers won - so it was a happy ending.
As their trips wound down we made some last minute stops to favorite places. Mary and I got a Snarf's sandwich and a Fitz's soda (and a Starbucks) for lunch on Monday before she flew out to Seattle early yesterday to spend New Year's with some college friends. She goes back to Stanford on Saturday and classes start on Monday.
And yesterday we took Peter to Sump Coffee before he flew back to DC today. Now everybody is back (or, in Mary's case, almost back) to their usual spots and ready for the new year. Wishing you all a very Happy 2015!!
