Backlog

I've got some catching up to do! It's been a few weeks now - three weeks - since Sirius spent the night while John and Troy were away. Allie was none too thrilled. But she was a good sport and Sirius, as always, was a gentleman and a diplomat.
This was the weekend of our 65 degree weather! Yes, in February we had such a warm weekend that we were able to do more yard cleanup. St. Louis is an odd place climate-wise, being neither fully northern nor quite southern. Most of the leaves come off the trees in the fall, but a few come down quite late, and a small minority don't come down until spring. The result is that leaf cleanup is an ongoing job. Brad made another pass at the leaves in the front yard and it looks fantastic again.
Meanwhile, I pulled weeds in the backyard. (Yes, the weeds were already growing back!) We got so much cleanup done that we filled up all four of our yard waste cans and enough leaves to fill one more can the following week! In case you're wondering, yes they do pick up yard waste in the middle of winter - it's hard not to love the St. Louis trash pickup services when they pick up yard waste all year round!
Allie had a grant time in the warm weather. She (and we) enjoyed it while it lasted. Since then, we've had frigid cold temps (below zero) and some snow.
Earlier this week my brother Steve was in town for work, so John and Troy (and Sirius) came over for dinner (Brad's out of town) and we had a fun night, including some birthday cake.
I think these two definitely look like they come from the same gene pool!
