This week we were treated to a visit from a Shorewood friend! Mary's high school classmate, Mayya, was in town to interview at the Wash U med school. She arrived early enough to stay a night with us and to let us show her around town for a day. Here we are at the Wash U undergrad campus.
And of course we visited the Gateway Arch. With all those clouds we didn't have much hope that there would be a good view from above, but we were wrong—we saw as much as I've seen from up there on a crystal clear day!
Rain or shine, clear or cloudy, the Arch always looks good.
The wind was picking up ahead of some incoming rain, and at the top of the Arch we could feel it swaying in the wind. We were told it was only swaying about an inch. In the film about the making of the Arch, it says it's built to sway as much as 18 inches. Keeping my cool with that much sway is hard to fathom!
Before dropping off Mayya at the med school, Brad joined us for a barbecue dinner at the always delicious Pappy's.
