Harrisons Far and Wide

In case you missed it on other social medias, Troy was in last month's issue of Feast Magazine, which is a St. Louis food and drink monthly. Here's the article. And here's the link.
And here's the issue on the newsstand. Unlike her parents, we can't claim any credit for Troy's success, but we can still be proud of her.
Last Friday night Brad's brother Barry, his wife Wendy, and their son Kyle were staying in nearby Huntington Beach. We met them down there for dinner and walked out to the pier afterwards. When we left our house for dinner it was somewhere around 112 degrees in Long Beach. It was just ungodly hot. Inside our un-air conditioned house it was a balmy 90 degrees. My car actually got as high as 116 that day, but it's hard to know how accurate that is. Suffice it to say it was scorching. But just a few miles south in Huntington, it was in the 80s. Go figure. By the next day, the heat wave was over.
Meanwhile, last weekend Peter and Jessa spent a couple of days in DC and they hung out with Mary and Andy, including going on this hike. P&J are going to be in the states for a couple of more weeks before they head back to Morocco via Iceland. (And yes, I called them P&J. Peter lived on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for much of his youth, so I think the moniker P&J is kind of fitting.)
Meanwhile B&S (okay, I'll stop now) took a picnic and headed down to the bluff on Tuesday night for a concert by the Long Beach Municipal Band. It was a great concert but we had to look directly into the sun, so you won't be seeing any pictures of the band. The sound was great but we mostly tried to avoid looking at the band.
Mary and Andy flew to Colorado on Wednesday night for a long weekend in the mountains. Their first stop is at my sister Kathy's cabin. They both look awfully comfortable in the ATV.
My mom instilled a love of jacks in many of her grandchildren. When we were in St. Louis last month we had good intentions of playing jacks but we were all so busy with wedding festivities that jacks got forgotten. The kitchen counter at the Kidds' cabin is the perfect jacks playing surface, and it looks like Mary brought her A game with her.
Today Lauren took Mary and Andy kayaking down the Arkansas River.
It looks like Lauren and Kathy have been as usual excellent guides, including taking Mary and Andy to some local breweries. Okay, that's all I have for now. Everybody have a good weekend!
