Star Power

On Saturday Mary and Andy went to a wedding in Baltimore. It was one of Andy's childhood friends who got married, and Andy was in the wedding. Mary said that someone at the wedding told her she looked like a movie star. (Backstory: that "someone" was an elderly man.) But, even though he was apparently old enough to be her grandfather, she gladly accepted the compliment and, let's face it, wouldn't you do the same? (Plus, she did look fabulous.) So, older man at the wedding, thanks for giving me the theme for today's post!
Speaking of stars, on Sunday morning Allie proved she's a superstar walker and neighbor at the Long Beach Marathon, where she did her best to spread good cheer to runners and cyclists. Mile 24 was a few blocks from our house. (Also, who knew there was a cycling component to the marathon? Guess who's riding her bike in next year's marathon?!)
We walked on down to Mile 23 and tried to take advantage of another photo op, but again the sun was pretty bright. After that, we left the race route as Allie felt she had spread all the good cheer she had in her for one morning.
But getting back to the topic of superstars, this dog has a big birthday later this month—Allie is about to turn 13! And every morning she still takes a flying leap up this curb, proving that even old(ish) dogs have some mad hops. (And note to the Harrison children: I came up with that even without the aid of a certain dictionary.)
And finally while I'm on the topic of star power, I will close with the coolest of cats in my orbit (okay, the only cat in my orbit), Peaches, who is apparently an aspiring blog writer herself. No one is cooler than this cat.
