Flashback Friday

It's official: three weeks with only Flashbacks makes me a slacker blogger. I hate to make an excuse, but if I had material I'd have blogged it, and clearly I don't. The good news is that Thanksgiving is coming up and I'll have photos from our Thanksgiving in Arizona. And I am hoping (hint hint) to get pictures from the kids and their respective Thanksgivings to share on the blog too. (Though not before next week's Flashback, as we're in Arizona until next weekend and I don't have the ability to blog away from home. As to why, it's a boring story so please don't ask.) In the meantime, since this is the first Thanksgiving ever that we won't be spending with at least one of our kids, I thought I'd look back to the last time we had a Thanksgiving with all of them. I only have to go back three years, to 2015. Peter and Mary were both in DC at that time and it wouldn't have been outside the realm of possibility for one at least of them not to be able to come home. But we were blessed with both. And of course John (pre-weight loss) and Troy were local. This year while we're in Arizona spending our first Thanksgiving in many years with Brad's parents, John and Troy will be cooking dinner with some good friends in St. Louis; Mary will spend the holiday with Andy's family in Baltimore; and Peter and Jessa (who have the entire week off) will be in Paris with some DC friends who are there on vacation. So though we're not together, it does my heart good to know that the kids will be with people they care for on Thanksgiving.
