This year Chinese New Year is on February 5, so happy (almost) year of the pig. Above is John on February 1, 2004. It was a couple of weeks after Chinese New Year, but this big street fair in Yokohama (to celebrate the opening of a new train line) reminds me of the Chinese New Year celebrations that would take place in this part of town, which was an easy walk from our house. Anyone want to guess where in Yokohama they would have big Chinese New Year celebrations? You guessed it ..... Chinatown! On this particular Saturday morning, which was exactly fifteen years ago, John was helping out at a fundraising booth for his school.
